Sierra Noir is built around the part of mid-century illustration that was never clean or polite: blunt ink, dry pencils, chalky color, strange halftones and the little printing flaws that gave the work its bite.
Across 20 brushes, the set moves through liners, inkers, graphite, charcoal, crayon, gouache, pastel, markers, stippling and warped halftones. The texture lives inside the marks themselves, so the artwork develops its character while you draw rather than through a retro effect added at the end.

About the Illustrator Edition
Because Adobe Illustrator uses vector brushes, some Sierra Noir tools have been adapted to preserve the character of the raster editions inside a scalable and editable workflow.
The regular Warped Halftone brush has been rebuilt as a specialized vector brush with two additional brushes for smoother edge blending. Both Warped Halftone styles, Flat and Bleed, are also included as swatches for faster application across larger shapes and layouts.
The Illustrator edition behaves differently from the Procreate, Photoshop, Affinity and Clip Studio Paint editions, but it keeps the same mix of ink, dry media, paint texture and irregular halftone character while giving you full vector control.

Start with a fine liner or blunt inker to give the image structure. Break it open with graphite, charcoal, gouache or pastel. Bring in stippling for controlled depth, then use the warped halftones when the surface needs that slightly crooked printed rhythm.
